In iOS 17, Apple introduced this new feature which lets users customize their contacts when someone calls. Before iOS 17, this update, we saw a simple contact screen when users called, but after this iOS 17 update, users can now, according to their taste, set a contact poster.
This new feature not only allows you to add a contact poster but also offers many more features like font design of the contact poster, color style according to your taste. This feature will definitely make your iPhone call screen look cool, but for that, you need to read our full guide.
You will be happy to know that this contact poster not only shows in iPhone-to-iPhone calls but the contact card is also stored in your Contacts app. Apple has made APIs for developers so your contact poster appears for third-party VoIP apps as well.
To customize your iPhone Contact Poster, you need to follow these steps and make sure you have updated your iPhone with iOS 17 and later versions.
- Open the Contacts app and tap on your name at the top.
- Look for the “Contact Photo & Poster” option and give it a tap.
- Next, tap “Edit” followed by “Customize”.
- Now, the fun part! Tap “Poster” and unleash your creativity. You can: Capture a new photo using your camera. Choose an existing photo from your library. Select a personalized Memoji that represents you. Go simple with a Monogram of your initials.
- To complement your chosen image, you can customize the font by adjusting its size, style, and color. Don’t forget, your name can’t be changed here – you’ll need to edit your contact information for that.
- Want to see different effects? Swipe across the poster to preview a variety of filters, like black and white, duotone, and even color washes.
- Once you’re happy with your masterpiece, tap “Done” to see a preview of how your Contact Poster will appear when someone calls you. Feeling confident? Tap “Continue” to proceed.
- Now, you can fine-tune the crop of your Contact Photo or even choose a different photo if needed. You can also skip this step if you’re satisfied.
With the introduction of Contact Posters, the Contacts app has also received a design makeover. You’ll now see a larger display of contact images, Memoji, or initials when you tap on a contact’s name. This applies to contacts with assigned images as well.
Furthermore, under a contact’s name, you’ll find the “Contact Photo & Poster” option. This allows you to choose whether to automatically update whenever your contact modifies their profile photo, or opt for manual updates where you’ll be notified before accepting the change.
So, go forth and design your own unique Contact Poster! It’s a fun way to express yourself and add a personal touch to your calls.
