Apple released its iOS 17 in September 2023. This update introduced many exciting features, one of which is the ‘stand-by mode’ feature. Essentially, when you place your iPhone on the charge, specifically in a horizontal or landscape orientation, an on-screen display will appear, allowing you to showcase any custom widget of your choice. The result looks awesome. Interestingly, while not identical, we can observe similar features in other smartphones as well.
StandBy mode in iOS 17 offers a customizable Lock Screen when you place your iPhone horizontally in landscape orientation while connected to a charging cable, a MagSafe charger, or a Qi-based wireless charger. If StandBy mode on your iPhone activates upon detecting motion at night, here’s how to prevent that from happening.
Stop iPhone’s Standby Mode
- Click on the Settings App on your iPhone.
- Tap StandBy Or Search on the Top Bar.
- Tap Night Mode.
- Toggle off the switch next to Motion to Wake.
You’re all set! You have successfully turned off the StandBy Mode’s ‘Waking on Motion’ feature on your iPhone. Please note that when Apple releases iOS 17.1 in October 2023, the ‘Motion to Wake’ option will be relocated to a new settings menu: StandBy → Display → Night Mode.
