Do you face an issue with a noisy environment or construction happening near your house and you find it challenging to communicate with your friends and family because they can not hear you because of the background noise? If you are looking for a solution to isolate yourself from these distractions then you will be happy to know that Apple has introduced a feature called Voice Isolation, and here’s how it works.
Voice Isolation prioritizes your voice and blocks ambient noises. So when you are in an environment with a lot of noise and need to have a conversation you can simply turn on this feature. If you prefer you can also turn on Wide Spectrum to leave ambient noises unfiltered.
NOTE: To use this voice isolation feature, you need to be updated with the new version, or you must have at least iOS 15 or later.
Voice isolation will make it easier for other people to hear your voice on a call device with iOS 16.4 or later. Also, please note that Wide Spectrum is not available in phone calls.
Let’s talk technically about how this feature works. Do you know about machine learning? Have you heard about it? If not you should learn or search on the internet. Okay, let me explain it to you. Your iPhone’s mic cover captures a wide range of sounds in the environment. However with voice isolation, it removes all the background unwanted noise. Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum are also available in certain third-party apps. This feature blocks out any ambient noise and prioritizes your voice making it come through clearly.
If you follow these steps you’ll be giving your iPhone power like Luffy has in the One Piece. Jokes aside if you follow these steps, your iPhone will be able to ignore the background noise during a regular phone call on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and newer models of iPhone.
- Open your dialer in the Phone App and call your other phone with a regular audio call.
- Now pick up a call on another phone.
- In your iPhone pull down the control center by dragging down from the top right of your screen.
- You will see mic mode tap on that button at the top
- Select the voice isolation option
Hurrah! You have successfully learned how to give the beast power to your iPhone so that next time you have an important call, it doesn’t matter where you are – whether in a silent or noisy area – because you have activated the voice isolation feature.
If you want to turn off this voice isolation feature anytime you can just follow these steps in reverse and you will be able to disable this voice isolation feature on your iPhone.
While unveiling Voice Isolation for FaceTime Apple also unveiled another audio innovation called Wide Spectrum in iPhone. According to the Apple company this feature is designed to capture “an entire symphony of sound – encompassing your voice and the ambient environment.”
It’s important to note that as of now, Wide Spectrum remains exclusive to FaceTime and is not yet accessible for regular phone calls. if you like our article please share it with your friends and comment if any improvement needed
