Typing a password to log into your account is a bit tough for many users and is also an old way to log into your account. Today, Amazon launched a new passkey that will help you log into your account without the need for a passcode.
Passkey is the most secure way to log in without a password, as the password cannot be shared with another person through any phishing attempts or through any database breach. The best thing I like about Passkey is that we do not need to remember passwords or any codes; we just require a verified device.
To set up a passkey in your Amazon account on your iPhone or any device, just log in to your Amazon account with Facebook or touch ID. Once you turn it on, to enable it, go to ‘Your Account’ > ‘Login and Security’, and choose the ‘Set up’ option next to ‘Passkeys’
According to Amazon, passkey supports Amazon customers using browsers, and it will be rolling out to the Amazon app for iOS devices soon.
Support for Passkey is available with iOS 16 and macOS Ventura. Did you know that passkeys work through a public key that’s stored on a website server? This is paired with a private key kept on a specific device. On Apple’s devices, passkeys are authenticated with Face ID or Touch ID. Both keys must match for a user to log in. Passkeys sync across all of a user’s iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. However, they can also be used on non-Apple devices through a QR code system. Passkeys rely on iCloud Keychain.
